Valley Grace is a new church plant branching off from Big Valley Grace Community Church, where it had previously operated as its Ceres campus.
As they stepped into this new season, they needed something they never had before:
- A distinct name and visual identity of their own
- Branding that honored their roots while establishing independence
- A logo that would clearly communicate who they were becoming
This was their first opportunity to define themselves.
What they didn’t want?
- A logo that felt disconnected from their history
- Branding that looked trendy but didn’t reflect their heart
- An identity that felt like a copy of their parent church
For a new church plant, first impressions matter. And this was about starting strong.
The Real Risk
Valley Grace was stepping out on its own, commissioned by Big Valley Grace, and needed branding that would signal both continuity and independence.
Without thoughtful branding, they could have:
- Struggled to differentiate from Big Valley Grace
- Invested resources into design that didn’t serve their future
- Missed the opportunity to clearly establish their identity from day one
Our work together was about defining who they are.
Clever’s Role
Clever partnered with Valley Grace to create their first official church branding and identity.
The engagement included:
- A primary church logo
- A cohesive visual identity system
- A branding guide for use on future campaigns
- Exterior and interior signage design
Rather than jumping straight to visuals, Clever guided leadership through a structured identity process:
- Clarifying who Valley Grace is and how they wanted to be known
- Exploring visual directions with intention
- Refining through iteration without overwhelming decision-makers
About Valley Grace Church
Valley Grace Church began as a campus of Big Valley Grace Community Church in 2019. Big Valley Grace, located in Modesto, CA has been faithfully proclaiming the gospel and serving the Central Valley for decades since its founding in 1966, with a vision to see lives transformed by Jesus. Out of that vision, the Ceres Campus was launched to reach more people with the hope of Christ.
“Your work has been excellent—both in quality and in the timeliness and graciousness of your communication. Thank you for an amazing product and experience. It’s been a pleasure working with you.”

Lead Pastor
What Changed
With a defined visual identity in place, Valley Grace moved forward with clarity.
As a result of Clever’s work:
- The church launched with a distinct brand of its own
- Leadership gained confidence in how they present themselves publicly
- A branding guide now supports consistency across future initiatives
- Custom signage reinforced their new identity in physical space
This short engagement brought foundational impact that will ripple forward in years to come.
Why It Worked
This project succeeded because Clever didn’t treat branding as decoration. They treated it as stewardship.
- Stewardship of trust
- Stewardship of resources
- Stewardship of a church’s public witness
By guiding decisions instead of overwhelming leaders with options, Clever helped Valley Grace avoid common pitfalls—and move forward with clarity.
The Bigger Takeaway
Not every meaningful win shows up in metrics. Sometimes success looks like:
- A church plant stepping into independence with confidence
- Clear differentiation without severing history
- Branding that feels authentic from day one
This is the kind of foundation that allows a church to grow with consistency and strength. And it’s why churches trust Clever not just to design, but to guide defining moments well.
Powerful design
Clever designed everything Valley Grace Church needed to maximize engagement and put their best face forward.
