Background 

Previously known as Care For AIDS, Untold is a faith-based organization that cares for people suffering from AIDS in East and Southern Africa. Across the continent, AIDS remains a serious illness not only because of a lack of resources but also because of the negative stigma associated with the immunodeficiency condition.

Untold partners with local churches to support the over 20 million individuals diagnosed with AIDS medically, financially, and spiritually. This is a major undertaking, but Untold has made significant progress—graduating nearly 30,000 people from their program in 95 different centers. They give these individuals hope for a better life after their devastating diagnosis. 

To reach their goal of reaching 100,000 people by the end of 2027, Untold launched their AIDS SAID campaign in 2022. The campaign’s goal is to raise $26 million to fund their operations and double their impact by opening 63 new locations.

Unfortunately, Untold lost their marketing director and senior project manager in 2022. When they weren’t able to replace these team members quickly, it placed a great deal of pressure on the rest of the team to keep the marketing efforts moving forward—among the already pressing task of launching the AIDS SAID capital campaign.

During this time of transition, Untold’s leadership turned to Clever Marketing for much-needed help with marketing. Clever’s team quickly took action to take on Untold’s day-to-day digital marketing work—most notably taking over management of their social media channels. This took pressure off of the Untold team and created the margin for them to return to their normal responsibilities.

Clever’s team essentially became Untold’s marketing team, backfilling the responsibilities normally held by the marketing director and project manager. As this partnership grew, Clever also took on additional responsibilities/assignments/projects, including developing marketing strategies, creating campaign collateral like press kits, and designing email marketing templates. 

As of October 2022, Untold raised $15 million of their $26 million goal—more than halfway to the finish line.
