Clever
Prepared for illumiNations / 12VC

Moment to Mission.

What God stirred in you at Passion can become Scripture in someone else's hands. This is the campaign Clever built for the most important acquisition moment of the 12VC year — and how we'd run it.

The Campaign

Passion Conference just ended. Tens of thousands of 18–25-year-olds got on planes and drove home. The emotional altitude of the weekend is real — and fragile.

The Post-Passion window is the single largest acquisition moment of the 12VC year. This campaign picks donors up in the days after the conference, meets them exactly where they are — back home, bags unpacked, songs still in their head — and gives them a next step that feels like faith, not a fundraising transaction.

The job isn't to introduce illumiNations. That work was done in the room. The job is to convert a one-time emotional moment into a $35/month recurring commitment before the feeling fades.

$1.2M
Given in real time at Passion 2025 during speaker breaks
$35
Monthly gift funds one verse of Scripture translation
12
Verses translated per year per recurring giver

Primary goal: Convert Passion attendees — especially those who gave a one-time gift in the room — into $35/month recurring givers for illumiNations / 12VC.

The Story

Strategy is only as good as the work it produces. This is Email 1 — the emotional entry point. It lands in your donor's inbox 36 hours after they get home from Passion.

illumiNations
From: [Name] at illumiNations
Subject: Your Passion moment can keep growing
Preview: Your gift helped begin something. The 12 Verse Challenge helps keep it moving.

Hi [First Name],

By now, you may be back home with your bags unpacked and your head in the clouds. You've probably made a playlist of all the songs you want to remember, and you might be praying courageously about how God moved and is moving in your heart.

At Passion, you experienced a moment that dared you to move. You gave to illumiNations because you wanted someone else to know the hope of Jesus through His Word.

That moment can keep growing.

Through the 12 Verse Challenge, your monthly gift helps translate Scripture for people still waiting to read God's Word in their own language. For $35 a month, you help fund one verse of Scripture translation. Over one year, that becomes 12 verses in the hands of people deeply loved by God.

We hold fast to the promise that God's Word goes out and it doesn't come back void. (Isaiah 55:11) What God stirred in you at Passion can become Scripture in someone else's hands. And that Scripture can go on, and on, and on as it draws people closer to Jesus Christ.

Keep Your Yes Growing
P.S. The 12 Verse Challenge is simple: one verse a month, 12 verses a year, for people still waiting to read God's Word in their own language.
"Notice what it doesn't do. It doesn't guilt. It doesn't manufacture urgency. It doesn't say 'don't let this feeling fade' — because this audience has heard that from every camp counselor they've ever had." — The strategy behind the copy

The Full Sequence

Email 1 is the entry point. The sequence runs six more emails over 21 days — moving from emotion to imagination to action.

00
Immediately after Passion gift
Your Passion gift is already part of the story
Gift receipt + warm framing. Sets up the idea that the moment can keep growing. Introduces the 12 Verse Challenge.
01
24–48 hours post-Passion
Your Passion moment can keep growing
Emotional entry point. Meets them back home. Soft ask — feels like faith, not fundraising. (The email above.)
02
Day 4
What if John 3:16 was new to you?
Imagination trigger. Helps the giver feel the need through the eyes of someone waiting. The "imagine reading John 3:16 for the first time" frame.
03
Day 7
For some, the Bible is still out of reach
Introduces the scale of the need without crushing the reader. 7,300+ languages globally. 2,914 with limited or no Scripture access. Sobering, not heavy-handed.
04
Day 10
[Name], what can your one verse do?
Makes the $35/month ask concrete. One verse can tell someone God sees them. One verse can introduce someone to Jesus. The math becomes meaningful.
05
Day 15
A simple way to keep saying "Yes"
Reframes recurring giving as spiritual formation, not a transaction. Calls them up, not out. Generosity as discipleship.
06
Day 21
Will you help translate 12 verses this year?
Clear final invitation. No pressure, no false urgency. Returns briefly to Passion, then states the ask directly. The ask was earned over three weeks.

Four Creative Directions

Two designers. Different visual languages. The same story.

We're not here to sell you on one direction. We're here to show you that we can write and design to this donor — and execute whatever direction feels right to you. The story is the strategy. The creative follows the story.

Concept 1 — Bold Graphic
Matt Mantooth — Direction 1
12 Months. 12 Verses.
Bold neon green, high-contrast typography, illumiNations brand-forward. Energetic and graphic — the kind of creative that feels at home in a Passion crowd's social feed.
Concept 2 — Gritty Editorial
Matt Mantooth — Direction 2
Help Me Encounter Jesus.
Gritty, photographic, texture-heavy. Raw urgency. A neon green accent border cuts through a weathered, documentary-style image. Missional and unafraid.
Concept 3 — Muted Editorial
Matt Mantooth — Direction 3
Don't Let It End Here.
Same photography and structure as Direction 2, shifted to a cooler slate palette. More contemplative, more restrained — closer to where the donor lands emotionally after the conference ends.
Concept 4 — Passion-Native
David Uribe — Direction 4
POV: You're Home From Passion.
Passion-adjacent energy. Black and orange, bold typography, native Instagram story format. "The room is quiet now. But the stirring is still there." Designed to live where the donor lives — their phone, 36 hours after the conference.

Social-Native Formats

The same message, built for how this audience actually moves through Instagram — not polished ministry content, more personal and real.

You're Back Home. Now What?
Moves from the post-conference emotional return to a clear invitation. Raw, quiet, high-contrast. Built to stop the scroll.
Instagram Reel
Instagram Reel — 7–12 seconds
POV: You're Home From Passion
Phone-shot b-roll concept. Wristband still on. Coffee next to an open Bible. Voiceover: "The stirring is still there." Ends: "Let your yes become Scripture in someone else's hands."

Why This Campaign, Why Clever.

This is what January 2027 looks like — Clever's first fully owned campaign for illumiNations / 12VC.

The strategy Justin laid out closes the back door: cancel-save sequences, milestone kit optimization, lapsed reactivation. This campaign is the front door — built for the donor who's going to walk through it after Passion.

We brought four creative directions into this proposal because we're not here to sell you on one of them. We're here to show you that we can write and design to this donor at the level the mission deserves.

The story is the strategy. The creative follows the story.
